    • Summary of Project: This is a project that focuses on heroes and positive leaders in the history of America. This project can be used to research and develop ideas on heroes, positive leaders and famous people of our past. Students learn about these influential people from history, characteristics these people share, and how to use multimedia to research and develop ideas,

    • Curriculum Framing Questions

      • Essential Question- What is a hero? How do leaders create change? Do people create history or does history create people?

      • Unit Questions-


  • What do you think makes a person a hero?
  • Why are leaders important in our culture?
  • Who would you consider a hero in your own life?
  • What path do people take to become leaders?
  • What characteristics do leaders and heroes share? What characteristics are different?

      • Content Questions-


  • How have leaders and heroes shaped history (in the context of Social Studies for each grade level – i.e. NC History for 4th, US History for 5th)
  • Do leaders create change in Science and Math? (Christa McAuliff, Einstein, etc.)

    • Real world connection- What leaders and heroes are we watching as they devolop in 2008? History is being made every day. What part do WE play?
